On campus accommodation

• One of the largest on campus accommodation providers in Victoria, Accommodation Services at La Trobe offers a wide range of on campus accommodation options for new, returning, undergraduate, post graduate and placement students.

1. Pathway Programs

La Trobe Melbourne is a pathway option for students who want to study at La Trobe University but cannot gain direct entry. Foundation, Diploma studies and English language courses are offered by La Trobe Melbourne – owned and operated by global education pathway provider Navitas – at the Melbourne campus. La Trobe University Sydney Campus offers two Diploma pathway options dependent on a student’s IELTS results. Students who meet the academic entry requirements for Diploma but only have an IELTS score of 5.5 (min. of 5 in any band), may enter the Diploma via a provisional pathway: In this program they must successfully complete an additional Academic Study Skills unit during the first semester.

2. English Language

La Trobe’s English language program supports staff and students by providing language resources, advice, guidelines and consultations. The program has also developed an undergraduate subject which is available to all first year students using English as an additional language. Academic Language and Learning Unit staffs in each faculty work with students using English as an Additional Language.

3. Foundation Program

La Trobe Melbourne’s Foundation Studies are designed exclusively for international students to build upon their studies in their home country and to meet the entry requirements for undergraduate courses at La Trobe University.

4. Employability and Career

Over 81 per cent of La Trobe’s 2009 first degree graduates found full-time employment within four months of completing their qualification. Source: Australian Graduate Survey 2009.
At our Sydney Campus we have an Internship program where you can take advantage of an unpaid position in a corporate environment, with a focus on developing skills relevant to your career path.

You will be placed in an internship related to your studies, specialisation or area of interest. The internship usually lasts12–16 weeks and enables eligible degree students to:
• gain invaluable work experience
• transfer knowledge and theories from your university course into the workplace
• increase your chance of full-time employment within your chosen career
• Gain a workplace reference at the end of your internship.

International students can increase their proficiency of the English language and experience of the Australian work force culture.
